New year - new home!
No, I am not actually suggesting moving, but a new year and a new decade surely is a great time to get a new look for your home as well.
Go for fresh paint, buy new furniture or if you really want to freshen up your home, consider upgrading a kitchen or bathroom. However even if you don't want to spend much time nor money for that matter, here are four super easy steps to make your home new for 2010.

Four simple solutions that will change the look of your home in less than one day.
1. New Curtains and New Rug(s)
Let's face it - if walls, ceiling and the floor are not counted, the curtains and the area rugs together take most of the visual space in most rooms. To make the biggest impact on your home with the least effort, consider upgrading your rugs and curtains. Good quality rugs and curtains are not cheap by any means, so I either suggest getting cheaper trendier alternatives from places like Target or IKEA, or investing on less fashionable, but classy, long term, choices. Also, wooden blinds are a great choice - they will last for years, and come in several colors, and can transform your home with a quick installation.
2. Less is more and hide that collection of yours
Sometimes a good cleaning up is all you need...especially if you are anything like me. De-clutter your home and recycle or donate things that you no longer need. If you are a collector and display your collection in your home - consider hiding it for a while. You will get a new look in your home, you'll get the needed clean up and inventory of what you have, and when you display your collection again, it will feel like brand new. Maybe you can even think of a new way of displaying it. Really, believe me. No matter how much you love your collection, it is time to hide it for a while. You 'll feel refreshed.
3. Use what you have
You can also change the look in your home by simply putting some of the furniture on a time-out (also known as putting it into a storage or garage or moving to another room). You can bring the bedroom armoire into living room for your TV for awhile, or turn your kitchen table into an office table. I have moved some furniture in my bedroom, bathroom and kitchen - and changed the look in my home without spending any extra money. Especially armoires, bookshelves, dressers and cabinets which can be used in several different rooms for different purposes.

4. Organize
See suggestion no. 2 - organizing your home comes right after cleaning up. Make sure that items in your home all have their own places, and that things that you need often are easily accessible. You can also look into great organizing products. Organizing doesn't have to mean boring - you can organize your home in a way that fits your decor with the products available nowadays. One of the newest products for example is the CD/DVD organizers from MM Design.
