Last year I saved up my Swag Bucks to purchase an Amazon Kindle. Even if I'd paid for it solely out of my own pocket, it still would remain one of the best investments I've made.
My Kindle reading device has allowed me to renew a love of books that I'd all but lost with the busyness of being a mom of five and running a successful blog. It allows me to read on the go, and when combined with the Kindle iPhone app, I can read literally anywhere, even if I only have a spare five minutes.
If you're like me, the one concern you may have about purchasing a Kindle is the cost of purchasing books. But I've got great news on that front -- Amazon actually has a library of over 7,000 free book downloads available currently, and they're adding more daily!
Many of these are public domain classics, including:
- Pride & Prejudice
- Little Women
- Fairy Tales Every Child Should Know
- Uncle Tom’s Cabin
- The Scarlet Letter
But there are also a number of more recent releases available. To find free Kindle books, simply visit any category page in the Kindle store and sort by Price: Low to High.
Even better news, Amazon recently released a desktop version of the Kindle software, so you can start reading today on your computer while you're saving up for a Kindle!
