Warehouse club shopping can be a great way to save money if you're not a fan of clipping coupons. Plus, they have great Christmas deals on gift baskets, toys with bonus items, books, video games, and tons of other odds and ends.

Perhaps you've been deterred by the membership prices in the past, but BJ's Warehouse is currently offering a free 60-day trial membership through December 31st, so it's totally worth your time to check it out right now!

Navigating these stores without adding unnecessary extra items to your cart can be tough, but here are a few tips to help you save big:

-- Have a plan before you shop. Make a list of the specific items you want to purchase, and stick to it. If you're worried about having to pass up deals that aren't on the list, instead have a budget in mind that you're not willing to exceed and keep track of your total as you go.

-- BJ's is the only warehouse club that accepts manufacturer coupons. In fact, they may accept multiple coupons on a single purchase. If items are shrinkwrapped together, you can use one coupon per individual item in the package.

-- Know your prices. While many items can be found priced slightly cheaper than at a traditional grocery store, there are definitely occasions when the grocery store has better values than a warehouse club.

I find the best deals to be found are on staple kitchen items that rarely have coupons or have low value coupons, bulk meat purchases, and dairy purchases. The items that I buy consistently are frozen chicken breasts, milk, bottled water, and cheese. If you have pets and/or a baby, pet food, diapers, and wipes are all good buys.

So if you've been on the fence about warehouse clubs in the past, now is the time to give it a shot. You have nothing to lose!
