I am one of those women who doesn't really care for Valentine's Day.

In fact, I might just get mad if my husband got me chocolate and roses on February 14.  I would know that he never even thought about giving me a gift for Valentine's Day, but bought it because his mom asked him to.

Sometimes I think I may have been born in the wrong generation. I just don't get why more married couples aren't merging their finances. A growing number of people are set on "my" money and "his" money and then "our" money.  These same folks have "his" and "her" bills to pay...

Remember that person you fell in love with before you had kids? You know, the one you used to hold hands with and even (occasionally) sit through a whole movie with? This morning I read an article in our local newspaper that reinforced how important it is for parents to reconnect during date nights. This is especially true for parents with babies and toddlers.

This stage is a difficult transition in a marriage which makes it even more important to get out, just the two of you. Many parents make excuses about why they “can’t” do a date night. It might be financial or finding a sitter. One thing to consider… is it easier to seek out solutions to these obstacles or repair a marriage that has suffered from the loss of intimate time together?

Marriage - Choosing to Love

After years of marriage I can tell you that marriage isn’t easy.. not easy AT ALL! In fact, it just might be one of the most difficult things you ever do.. especially as a wife. I think we’re lured in by our childhood dreams of love, a beautiful wedding, and the forever we read about in fairy tales when we were little. What everyone fails to tell you is that within a year or two (after that honeymoon phase passes) you’ll find everything your spouse does to be THE single most annoying thing you’ve ever seen in your life.

My husband and I rarely get alone time these days. So, any activity that we can do together is a plus and sometimes we "accommodate" each other with activities that we may not choose. But it gives us some time together and typically a great conversation or heated debate follows.
